Greetings! My name is Ms. Guilbeau but my students call me Ms. G. I am teaching grade 6 this year and could not be more excited for the amazing year we have ahead of us! This year we get to explore space, trees & forests, evidence & investigation, democracy in Canada, Greece, and within Iroquois communities, air & aerodynamics, flight for birds & planes, story writing, poetry, book club, science fair, political cartooning, decimals, fractions, ratios, percentage, data & probability, geometry, measurement, script writing, and so many more incredible topics! This is a jam-packed year full of adventure, experiments, art, reading, writing, math, problem solving, inquiry & investigation and I can’t wait to go on this journey with all of you.
A little about me:
I grew up in Fort McMurray where I went to Ecole St. Paul, St. Anne’s, Westwood, then graduated at Merc. I was part of the competitive dance team at Generation Dance Studio & the competitive gymnastics team at Norfort Gymnastics Club, later moving onto teach for both companies.
I then moved to Edmonton to complete my Bachelor of Elementary Education at the University of Alberta with honours. I then was hired immediately upon graduation in Bristol, England where I taught grade 3 and absolutely loved it. I travelled a ton while living overseas and moved to Asia so I could get certified as a Yoga instructor. While living in Thailand, I received an amazing opportunity to move to Sri Lanka for a little while and teach Yoga at the German Embassy. In early February of 2019, I moved back to Canada and found myself back in my hometown of Fort McMurray teaching grade 3 at Walter & Gladys Hill.
I currently am teaching grade 6 this year, Yoga at Oxygen Yoga & Fitness, Dance & Acrobatics at Generation Dance Studio, and helping with the WGH Tech & Trade Program.
I am blessed to be able to work at such an incredible school & cannot wait to explore this grade 6 year with all of you.
